Â鶹´«Ã½ Makes History with Unprecedented QCIS Victory

Wednesday 04 Dec

Â鶹´«Ã½ has etched its name into the history books by winning all six trophies in the Queensland Combined Independent Schools (QCIS) competitions this year—a first in QCIS history. Competing against formidable rivals such as SCOTS PGC College, Toowoomba Anglican School, Our Lady of the Southern Cross, Mary MacKillop Catholic College, and Downlands College, Concordia has set a new benchmark in sporting excellence.

This historic feat was sealed when Concordia hosted the QCIS Track & Field Carnival for the first time ever at the Stephen Street Campus. Despite the chilly weather, the event was a resounding success, bringing together athletes, parents, and coaches for a day of remarkable performances.

"It was a fantastic day, despite the cold weather. Hosting the QCIS Track & Field Carnival at our campus was an impressive milestone for Concordia," said Head of College, Anton Prinsloo.

"Seeing our students' dedication and community spirit really encapsulates what 'Your Perfect Fit' is all about."

Having already secured the swimming and cross-country aggregate and percentage championships earlier this year, Concordia's students were aiming for an unprecedented clean sweep.

The home advantage proved to be pivotal as Â鶹´«Ã½ was crowned the QCIS Track & Field aggregate and percentage champions for 2024.

"Our athletes were incredible," continued Prinsloo. "Their hard work, determination, and the support from our community were key to achieving this historic clean sweep. We couldn't be more proud."

Notable achievements included first-place finishes in multiple categories: 10 Girls, 14 Girls, 15 Girls, 16 Girls, 16 Boys, and Open Girls and Boys. Adding to the excitement, Alex Roberts and Evie Yeatman broke 100m records, creating lasting memories for themselves and the college. Could they be the next generation of track and field Olympians?

"We witnessed some awe-inspiring performances that day," remarked Prinsloo. "Alex and Evie breaking the 100m records was just the cherry on top. This is a testament to the dedication and talent of our students and the incredible support from parents and staff."
